Luis Gispert was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1972. Gispert poses inner-city cheerleaders in classically baroque compositions. Many artists today are using historic narrative compositions to give context to, and elevate, current subcultures. Other collections which maintain Gispert’s work include: The Guggenheim New York, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art.
