Steven Charles

Charles paints his canvases with enamel paints, which dry to a hard, shiny surface. This gives them their jewel-like appearance and allows the brilliant colors to really shine. He occasionally blends in other materials, such as paper and plastic, into the paintings. The paintings are comprised of layer upon layer of paint. Each labyrinthine stripe gives way to even smaller splotched and circles, allowing viewers to truly get lost in the artworks.
